I Remember
© Joshua P. Michael, 2024.
I remember the day,
Not so long ago,
At home I must stay,
Or you’ll scold my ego.
With bullets of rubber,
And truncheons of lead,
And canisters of gas,
Fired straight at my head.
The Aussie flag flying,
Upside down, as it were,
A nation distressed,
Not allowed to demur.
“You’re in danger!” you cried,
As the baton swung ‘round,
“Safe and effective” you lied,
As our blood pooled the ground.
Black leathers stomping,
On bone, skin and hair,
Police armour gleaming,
It’s so cruelly unfair.
“Democratic,” you say,
As if people would choose,
To be locked in their homes,
Unless injected with ooze.
A magic concoction
Of RNA goo,
That certainly causes,
Myocarditis in you.
Cancer rates soaring,
Along with suddenly dead,
But “The vax ain’t it causing,
‘Tis all in your head.”
Still do you tell me,
Every time I look,
“Get up to date, heathen!”
As if it’s some Holy Book.
But I refused to comply,
Not now, not then,
To the rest do I ask,
“If not now, then when?”
“When will our blood,
Cry up from the floor?
Or will you still cower,
Behind your shut door?”
Fearing the words,
As you still do,
Of a mythical virus,
Coming invisibly to you.
Striking you down,
Right where you are,
Just because you heard it,
From some TV star.
The visage of an actor,
Choking in bed,
Except it were only,
Propaganda you were fed.
Hospitals all burdened,
With infections en masse,
Except that did not start,
Until the injections were passed.
Oh yes, that’s right,
I remember feeling morose,
When my dear ol’ nana,
Took her second dose.
She did not last long,
Two months I recall,
Suddenly falling headlong,
At her last fatal fall.
But what does it matter,
When you’ve no ears to hear,
The cries or the screams,
Of the now-dead we held dear?
You didn’t come with us,
When we marched all around,
You fell right away,
When we all stood our ground.
Where is your courage,
Endurance and respect?
Must I think you’re a husk?
A moral derelict?
How hard is it really,
To stand up and cry “No!”
When it costs you your home,
or your job has to go?
Too hard for most,
It now seems quite clear,
The shame of non-conformity,
Too much to bear.
Rather, I think,
To have the praise of a crowd,
Cheering and clapping,
“I’m vaxxed!” so loud.
Pointing the finger
Now as you turn,
Accusing us fiercely,
“I hope in hell you do burn!”
“Our lives at risk,
Truly you put!”
“It’s just a vaccine,
You ignorant sot!”
Why, but, oh why,
Cannot you see?
I wasn’t the one,
Who deceived you and me.
Powers on high,
Malefic grins did they show,
“Your sole source of truth,” they said,
“Salvation only we bestow.”
They acted as one,
All over the world,
Yet you blamed me,
As everything unfurled.
Censored, expelled,
Struck, fined, assailed,
Unemployed, unpersoned,
And then finally got jailed.
Just because we had,
What it takes to say “No.”
I hope you stop blaming,
But we’ve quite a way to go.
My trust is now shattered,
I only look with despair,
On the world I once knew,
It is no longer there.
Shadows of men walking,
Their souls totally bereft,
Of critically reasoned thoughts,
Psyches sundered, twain cleft.
Attached, as they are,
To their torturers now,
A psy-op so monstrous,
I still wonder, “How?”
“How did we go,
And get it so wrong?
They believe utter garbage;
Oh Lord, for how long?”
“How long must I cry,
And weep in the night?
That humanity capitulated,
Barely without a fight?”
Falsehoods so grand,
They all seemed quite true,
Piercing the hearts of all,
Like lightning from the blue.
Few could indeed resist,
A demonic, wicked scheme,
That salvation now came,
From a deadly vaccine.
But just now I’m starting
To really understand,
Just why Your Word says,
They’ll worship that evil man.
He’ll deceive the entire world,
With a momentous display,
Of power and delusion,
Pulling all men astray.
Except those who are standing,
Carefully on guard,
Hearts right now protected,
Minds right now stalwart.
For they truly know,
At that gruesome hour,
Just who it is,
The enemy will devour.
Sitting on their laurels,
Totally unprepared,
Chasing the delusion,
Frightened, fearing, scared.
The lie they loved right to the end,
Unto their untimely deaths,
They could not comprehend at all,
The simplest of requests.
It is better to die a martyr,
Suffering for the truth within,
Than live a bountiful lie,
Deluded by every whim.
It’s how I see the world now,
The veil has been torn down,
Delusions all around me,
Truth is no longer found.
But it doesn’t mean we failed,
Or that we should give up,
Or that our blood was shed in vain,
When suffering was our cup.
It only meant we’re walking,
Along that narrow, lonesome road,
A Saviour once walked to Calvary,
Bloodied, broken, whipped and stoned.
They killed Him on a cross,
They laughed and jeered and mocked,
Three days hence He rose,
The mockery right then stopped.
Do not lose sight of this at all,
Let us steadfastly march on,
Vengeance stands awaiting,
Do not sway aside unto the con.
They kill and maim,
They bomb and shoot,
They behead and flame,
They crush and loot.
But our day is coming,
It shall be brighter than the dawn,
The day we’re resurrected,
Fulfilling promises foresworn.
I will hear then,
“Rest now; it is my time;
It is my fight; yours is done;
You were faithful to the very end.”
“I will remember you.
I will not forget you.
I’ve seen this all before.
I will endure no more of this.”
“I shall open My mouth,
My voice shall resound,
Every ear will hear Me,
Every corner of the Earth see Me.”
“My sword shall be drawn,
It shall be bathed in their blood,
They shall not escape,
They shall wish they had never been born.”
I remember.
